Terms of Service
Last updated 11 October 2026
These terms apply to STP Practice at stppractice.co.uk (the "Service"). By creating an account, using the free diagnostic or buying full access you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by Techne Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14170011) with its registered office at 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 7DE. You can contact us at support@stppractice.co.uk.
2. What the Service is
STP Practice is an online practice resource for the situational judgement test used in recruitment to the NHS Scientist Training Programme. It includes a free diagnostic test and, with full access, timed full-length mock tests, an explanation for every response, and a score report.
It is an independent revision resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the National School of Healthcare Science, NHS England, Pearson VUE, Work Psychology Group or any other recruiter or test publisher.
All scenarios, responses, answer keys and explanations are original and written by us. They are not the real test questions, which are confidential. They follow the published format and the four attributes the real test assesses, but we cannot and do not promise that our answer keys match the official ones, or that using the Service will produce any particular score, longlisting decision or offer.
Our scoring uses a near-miss points model that we publish on the site. It is our own model. The real test's point values are not published and may differ.
3. The free diagnostic
You can create an account with your email address and take the diagnostic test without paying. The free tier includes the diagnostic and its score report only. We may change what the free tier includes, or withdraw it, at any time, but we will not remove access to anything you have paid for.
4. Buying full access
Full access is sold as a single one-off payment, shown on the site at the time of purchase. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Prices include VAT where it applies.
Full access runs until the closing date of the situational judgement test window for the recruitment round shown at the time of purchase. We state the current end date on the pricing page and in your confirmation email. If the National School of Healthcare Science later publishes a date after the one we stated, we extend your access to match it at no charge. Access does not renew automatically and we take no further payments.
Access is for one person, the purchaser, and is not transferable.
5. Refunds and your right to cancel
Because full access is digital content that you can use as soon as your payment is confirmed, you agree that we may make it available immediately. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 this means you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel once access begins.
In its place we offer our own guarantee: if the Service is not what you expected, email us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. We will process the refund through Stripe to the card you paid with, normally within 5 working days of your request. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the Service is faulty or not as described.
6. Your account
- You must be at least 16 and give a real email address that you control.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for anything done through your account unless we have failed to keep it secure.
- One account, one person. Do not share your login or let anyone else use it.
- STP Practice and our sister product Public Health ST1 Prep share one sign-in system. If you have an account with either, the same email address and password work on both. Access to each product is bought separately.
7. Using the content
The scenarios, responses, explanations, glossary, score reports and everything else on the Service are our copyright or licensed to us. You may use them for your own personal preparation only. You must not copy, publish, share, sell, scrape or otherwise distribute them, or use them to build another product or service. If you do, we may close your account without refund and take further action.
The real test is taken under a non-disclosure agreement with the National School of Healthcare Science. Do not send us, or post anywhere on the Service, anything from the real test.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee it. We may take it down for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. We may add, change or remove scenarios and features from time to time, including to reflect changes in the real test. We will not remove the mock tests you paid for during your access period.
9. Our liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
Otherwise, our total liability to you for anything arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for it (or, for the free tier, £25). We are not liable for the outcome of your application, test or interview, for loss of earnings or opportunity, or for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your test results from the History page at any time, and you can ask us to delete your whole account by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close a paid account for a reason other than your breach, we will refund you.
11. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring a claim in your local courts. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site or by email before they take effect.
